On Saturday a 34-year-old student returned from Beijing to west Africa, The woman showed flue like symptoms and is, therefore, undergoing tests.
The woman is currently kept into isolation and if the virus is confirmed it will be the first case of coronavirus in Africa. The results of the tests will be announced on Sunday evening.
The woman has lived in China for about the past 5 years, and according to Health ministry, she had symptoms of flue before she boarded the plane to Abidjan.
The health ministry announced that the health officials are dealing with a suspected case of coronavirus in the Ivory Coast.
The ministry further said “Her general state is satisfactory. There are, at this stage, suspicions of a case of pneumonia tied to the coronavirus”.
The virus first emerged in Wuhan the city of China, it has affected 2000 people and killed 56. The virus is currently known as 2019-nCoV is understood to be a new strain of coronavirus it was not previously identified in humans.
Since the virus outbreaks in Wuhan, African countries have induced extra screening on flights that are arriving from China.
