In Lodi, California a woman walked to the counter at McDonald’s and instead of placing an order she asked for help.
The woman asked the employee to call 911, gave her license plate no to them and asked the employees to hide her.
Meanwhile, San Joaquin County Sherrif’s office reported the whole incident through a post on facebook. “We are lovin’ it! McDonald’s providing a “SAFE PLACE” for abuse and human trafficking victims aids a woman to be rescued.” said the post
The police investigation later revealed that the woman was traveling with a man who used to abuse her. The man threatened the woman that day with a firearm and forced her to drive him to his family.
The woman went to the restroom and she went to the counter again after coming out of the restroom to place an order. The man with the woman asked her to use the drive-thru instead.
The police further told that even in the drive-thru the woman kept asking for help and sending distressing messages to the employees. Luckily the police arrived at the time the woman was still in the drive-thru.
The employees at McDonald’s quickly pointed the woman to the police. The police found the firearm in the trunk of the vehicle. The man was arrested on the spot.
McDonald’s later took to Facebook and said in a post that “We are proud of our team for doing their part in being A SAFE PLACE! Thank you to our team for handling this appropriately, and to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office Deputies who are constantly serving and protecting our community! We are proud to be in support of both A Safe Place and all of our law enforcement! Thank you for all of the community support and please always be safe and aware!”
