Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient Mehwish Hayat expressed her views about the health of the former president of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf. She shared a picture of the former president on Twitter and said: “Let’s put politics aside for one moment. This man was our President & guided us through some very difficult times.
She further said: “Like him or loathe him, he deserves the opportunity to be heard. At least we can grant him that dignity. After all, does the law not say “Innocent till proven guilty”?
Mehwish said that we must consider his services towards the country and we should not ignore his health.
After the tweet of Mehwish Hayat, there are mixed reviews. People had not forgotten the time when Musharraf’s government was accused of human rights abuse. One of the users tweeted the picture of Zardari and said “He too was our president for five years. Either forgive him or liberty for none.”
In her reply to the user, she said: “Nobody is above the law, all that I am saying is give him a chance to be heard at least. Guilt or otherwise is the decision of the courts”
One of the user names Dr. Uzma tweeted: “Not even a word for Kashmir, not a word for worst political situations, not a word for what’s happening with girls but a long tweet for. P.s “Tamghy k ehsaan utarty huy.”
In reply to her tweet, mehwish said: ” Please check my feed before making unfounded allegations. If you care to look, you will see I have raised the issue of Kashmir, Education, sports & girls’ rights both nationally & internationally.”
One of the users requests Mehwish not to interfere in political matters.
