Greta Thunberg who at the age of 16 became the global influence for climate change and a conscious for environmental activism is named Time magazine’s person of the year 2019.
Greta is a Swedish activist, her campaign on climate change have been recognized worldwide. She tweeted ” Wow, this is unbelievable! I share this great honor with everyone in the #FridaysForFuture movement and climate activists everywhere. @time “
Greta is the youngest candidate ever to be named person of the year. Edward Felsenthal who is the editor in chief of Time magazine told on Today’s show That ” Greta became the biggest voice on the biggest issue facing the planet this year, coming from essentially nowhere to lead a worldwide movement”.
Greta’s initiative was to afflict the youth and bring the students into action so that they protest against climate change throughout Europe. Her movement was recognized worldwide and became the “Friday’s for future movement”
Edward continued ” Greta represents a broader general shift in the culture, young people are demanding change and urgently”. She further said that “Greta Embodies youth activism”.
Moreover, Greta told Time’s ” I would like to tell my grandchildren that we did everything we could and we did it for them and for the generation to come.”
