Former Ukrainian beauty queen started legal action against Miss World

A former miss Ukraine name Veronika Didusenko stripped of her crown and restricted from competing for Miss world title because she is a mother of a five-year-old son. She has launched the campaign against contest.

Her demands are to change the rules of the contest. 24-year old Veronika took to Instagram and said: “We demand a change of rules, @missworld”, allowing all women to participate.” She started a campaign named as #righttobeamother.

Veronika was honored with the title of Miss Ukraine in 2018, but later she was barred after the organizers found out that she has a 5-year old son.

She wrote on her Instagram: “The reason I was not allowed to compete in Miss World after winning the title #MissUkraine is that I had been married and have a child.”

The rules of Miss world stopped the mothers from taking part in the contest. Didusenko said that the promoters of the competition are biased. She said: “Global beauty pageants seem to be stuck in the dark ages.”

She took legal action against the contest and said that their’s regulations are against the Equality Act of 2010. Because of their rules married females, & the mothers are not eligible to participate in this contest.

Miss World has not issued any announcement regarding this issue. This year, the Miss World final will be held in London on December 14. Ukraine will be represented by Margaryta Pasha, a law student. Miss World is the world’s oldest beauty pageant, first held in Britain in 1951.
