Earlier this week, a female journalist named Alex bozarjian was groped by a runner while she was covering a 10k race live in Georgia.
Alex filed a sexual battery complaint against her assailant, youth minister Tommy Callaway. She lodged the complaint on Wednesday with the Savannah police department. Her lawyer Gloria Allred stated, ” Alex is looking for justice”.
On Friday, Tommy was arrested by the police and formally charged with misdemeanor sexual battery in savannah court. According to Alex, Tommy groped and smacked her rear end.
Callaway apologized to Alex by reaching her station “CBS this morning”. He said his intentions were not to hurt her. however, Alex responded with “I’m not going to really debate that because he hurt me”.
Moreover, Tommy’s lawyer stated to the media that “While we regret the situation, Mr. Callaway did not act with any criminal intentions. Tommy is a loving husband and father who is very active in his community.”
A misdemeanor conviction in Georgia can carry a fine of $5,000 or up to 12 months in jail. Gloria released a statement on Alexandrea’s behalf through her twitter.
” Alex is glad that the Law enforcement is taking this matter seriously, She feels that a reporter should be able to do her job without being assaulted. Alex wants to thank the members of the public who have reached out to her to offer support. if this case goes to trial she will be a witness. For that reason, she will have no further comment until the case concludes, but she does hope there will be a just result”
