An 11-year old girl was allegedly raped by a cleric in Sukkur

Child Abuse is, unfortunately, a common occurrence in Pakistan. It is shocking and sad that child abuse is increasing in Pakistani society. Child abuse haunts Pakistan society. An 11-year old girl was raped multiple times by a cleric in seminary in Panu Aqil, Sukkur. This incident happened on 25 October when a girl was returning from the seminary located in village Dildar Samejo.

The girl’s family searched her when she doesn’t return home on time and they heard the sound of a girl crying from a shop near the mosque. When they opened the shop they saw the cleric abuse her.

Girl’s father recorded an FIR against the cleric but the police did not cooperate in the inquiry. But when Sindh police IGP Sindh Kaleem took the notice of this incident. Police detained the suspect name Shafqat Samejo. SSP Irfan Ali recorded the statement of a girl and her family.

The medical report of the girl showed she was raped. Dr. Saima Taluka Hospital Panu Aqil confirmed that the girl was raped. Samejo’s sample was also sent for a DNA test.

The suspect family registered an FIR against the girl’s father for theft but police didn’t register the case as they are putting pressure on the girl’s family.

Non-government organizations name Sahil collected data of child abuse in Pakistan which revealed that almost 1300 child was abused in Pakistan in the last six months.
