On Tuesday in the city of Dadu located in the Sindh province, a brother allegedly threw acid on his sister over a household dispute.
The woman encountered burnt wounds because of the acid thrown on her by her brother. She was then shifted to a hospital for her medical treatment under the supervision of women protection cell.
The police stated that the woman said that she was attacked by her brother on a dispute over property and she has kept her statement. A case has been filed against the suspect and the police have started investigating the case.
Earlier in June, a similar incident took place in Karachi, when a husband threw acid on his wife over a domestic dispute. the married woman also suffered from burnt wound from the acid and was shifted to hospital for treatment.
The husband of the married woman who is identified as Abida fled from the scene after he threw acid on his wife.
As many as 1500 cases of acid attacks are recorded every year around the world with women being the victims in 75-80% on them.
