First Female appointed as an interim PM of Belgian

Belgian budget minister Sophie Wilmes has been named as an interim Prime Minister of a country. She replaces the current PM Charles Michel who has been the PM of Belgian since 2014. She becomes the first lady who has been chosen as the PM of Belgian.

A 44-year politician will take an oath in November. King Philip declared the nominee officially on Sunday. Michel said on Friday that he planned to resign by the start of November.

Sophie works as an interim PM until the country’s political parties decide new rules. Belgium has not had a fully functional régime since an alliance ruled by Michel crumbled in December 2018.

Michel shared a post on twitter and said: “Congratulations Sophie for her appointment as an interim PM of Belgian.”
