A woman was allegedly murdered by a rickshaw driver in Karachi

A 46-year old woman name Yasmeen Shaukat was brutally murdered in her home by a rickshaw driver in Surjani town. Police confirmed the death of Yasmeen and discover her body from her house near Bilal chowk in the town sector’s 51D.

SHO Iftikhar Ahmed said that when they informed about the incident they rushed to the scene they saw a young girl screaming in front of her house. When police entered the house they saw a man holding a knife. He tried to harm himself with a knife but the police defeated him and took him to the hospital.

When the police search the house they found the female’s body and took her to Abbasi Shaheed hospital. When the statement of the young girl was recorded she recognizes the suspect and said that his name was Shahzad and he used to pick up her from college.

Furthermore, she said the woman was her mother. Police said that the family knows the rickshaw driver. On Saturday afternoon when the girl checked her mother after returning from college she saw that her mother was covered with blood. She started shouting but the driver threatened her that if she speak he kill her as well.

When the girl told the driver that she wanted to call the doctor for help and left the room, the driver tries to burn the woman’s body with a gas cylinder. When the girl saw this she ran outside and start screaming and asking for help.

SHO said that the suspect Shahzad is in the custody of police when he regained consciousness they further interrogate him.

The police said that Yasmeen’s hometown was in Punjab and her husband was in his hometown because of his work. Police further said that the lady was alone in her home when she was murdered.
