19 women and girls saved by Nigerian police from Lagos ‘Baby factory’

In Lagos, the largest city of Nigeria police released 19 women and girls who were kidnapped. The people who kidnapped them impregnated them and after that, they sell their babies.

Police said that women and girls who are age 15 to 28 were abducted from all over Nigeria with a promise that they give them work and then they were doing this heinous act.

Four babies were also found. In eastern Nigeria, the word which is commonly used is “baby factories.”

Lagos police representative Bala Alkana said: “Women were kidnapped by the suspects. Their purpose was to impregnate them and sell their babies. They were brought to that place in the promise of employment.” He said that girls are sold in 300,000 Naira($980)  and boys are sold in 500,000 Naira ($1,630).

The girls and women were kidnapped from the different regions which include Southern and Eastern states of River, Abia, and Imo, Anambra, etc.

Alkana said that they are aware of this crime from September 19 but they kept this incident secret because they are seeing the suspects’ activities.

Alkana said that state criminal inquiry division takes over this case and they are working with different agencies to settle down ladies and their babies.

Police said that on of the woman who didn’t want to share her name said that when she was impregnated she was told that there was a job for her and during this process, she gave birth to a premature baby who was died later on.
