Qandeel Baloch’s brother Waseem is condemned by a court on Friday and is sentenced to lifetime in jail. Six other people were including Qandeel’s other brothers named as Aslam Shaheen and Arif were acquitted in the case along with Maulvi Abdul Qavi.
In 2016 Waseem strangled her sister Qandeel to death at her home in Punjab. Qandeel’s father Muhammad Azeem Baloch filed a murder case against his son mufti Abdul qavi, Haq Nawaz Abdul basit and Zafar. Qandeel’s parents provided an affidavit in 2016 in which the names of other two sons Arif and Aslam Shaheen was given.
Qandeel’s brother Waseem admitted that he drugged his sister then killed her. He said in on record when he was presented Infront of the magistrate.
Qandeel’s parents provided another affidavit on Aug 21 stating that they had forgiven their sons and the court should release the charges on them.
Qandeel’s murder case was registered in July 2016, while the change to anti honor killing law was made months later was stated in the affidavit. this law prevents the murderer to walk away innocently when he committed a crime. Thus this law was not applicable in this case.
The new law made it compulsory for those who were imprisoned to serve at least 12 years in prison. Qandeel parents appeal was rejected by the court on Aug 22where they demanded that their sons should be forgiven and set free.
During the court session, Qandeel’s parents stated to the court that they are only forgiving their sons and not the other four who were accused in the case.
Earlier QandEel’s parents totally refused to forgive their sins for killing their sister and called for capital punishment. Qandeel’s father stated that it would really bring him joy if the accused along with his sons were hanged to death for their crime.
