Kristen Fajardo, a British-Filipina girl who is currently 11 years old was very eager to start her school. The little girl was diagnosed with cancer just 24 hours after she started her first day of secondary school.
At the beginning of the year, the girl complained to have to swear headaches, vomiting and that her vision was blurred. The conditions of Kristen started getting worse but Kristen and her family had no idea that this is a serious problem and did not realize how serious her problem was until the beginning of this month.
Kristen complained about double vision in both of her eyes on September 4 and then her parents Jeffrey and Liza took her to an eye hospital. The medical staff at the hospital noticed that there is a problem going on with Kristen’s left eye so they gave her an MRI scan. The reports of the MRI scan revealed that Kristen has a tumor in her brain.
The little girl was then transferred to a bigger hospital where she had to go through other tests and scans, it was further revealed that she had DIPG. The Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma is a tumor that accounts for all childhood cancers between 10 and 20 percent.
After 2 days Kristen’s parents realized that her cancer was not curable. Her mother said, “ that Kristen is a very sweet girl who is caring and loving.” She further added that whenever I’m sad she will always come and comfort me. She also said that her daughter loves to hug her and everyone else.”
Kristen has to go through different chemotherapy and radiotherapy in six weeks, this will help reduce her tumor and shrink it. Kristen has not been able to go home and is confined to her wheelchair.
Her mother said that Kristen has only one request and that is she wants to go to her home town the Philippines and meet all her relatives there.
A page GofundMe has been created to help support the little girl as she begins with her treatment.
Kristen mother and brother sean wish to make next few months the happiest for her and they are asking people to raise fund for her treatment.
