On Wednesday Firdous Ashiq Awan stated that the nation stands united after the disastrous earthquake occurrence and everyone should take part in the relief and rehabilitation work for the victims of the earthquake that took place on Tuesday.
She said after inquiring the health of the victims in Mirpur Divisional hospital that if it is needed then the victims should be transported to other better hospital in different cities to ensure that the victims receive better facilities and to ensure that they are provided with the best medical treatment available.
She further added that as it is a natural disaster and a national issue so the victims will be supported fully. She also told that she visited Mirpur because Prime Minister Imran Khan directed her to visit the place and also so that the message can be delivered that Pakistan will continue to support Kashmir at times of difficulty.
Moreover, she said that after the earthquake of 2005 the people of Kashmir and Pakistan have shown an enormous amount of support and rendered a great helping hand in the relief and rehabilitation activities of the victims.
Firdous Ashiq Awan further told that Pakistan Army was active in the rescue operations also she said National Disaster Management authority, Azad Jammu and Kashmiri government and civil society also played proactive roles in serving people.
Aunn abbas managing director of Pakistan bait u mal was also there and said that compensation will be provided to the victim’s families, adding loss of property and livestock will also be compensated.
Later on, while talking to the media person she said along with the chairman of NDMA that she met with Kashmiri Prime Minister to discuss the compensation payment strategy for the affected people.
She said that Pakistani government and NDMA will provide full support and all sort of facilities to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Disaster management authority in the restoration process. She further told that about 450 houses were destroyed which will have to be rebuilt. She also stated that all the stakeholder will join to help the affected and end their difficulties. She then told that the relief goods reaching the area will be distributed among the victims.
She also assured that the divisional hospital of Mirpur will be provided with all the necessary equipment facilities needed including portable X-rays.
