The ‘Naya Pakistan’ is bringing a lot of Tabdeli even in the not so well known areas. To decrease the poverty rate and to provide jobs to the foodless in Tharparkar, truck driver jobs are open for women and they are actually doing because they say it’s a source of good income for them.
Nusrat is one of those women who are stepping out to earn for their family, despite so much workload she takes care of her family too, looks after them, cooks for them, washes clothes and a lot. Women of Tharparkar are driving 60-tonne massive trucks swarming like bees around the largest open-pit coal mine.
These women are from conservative Hindu-Muslim families who got married at a very young age and are just allowed to bring water from well and work in fields.
Their husbands and fathers don’t let them work outside that’s why they were not so confident but now all the women along with their families felt proud for the very first time.
Nusrat stated, at first I was afraid to see the truck I was not sure if I will be able to do this but I enjoy my job because it’s a livelihood for me and my family.
Rural women stepping forward to improve their economic condition is actually a real source of empowering women of Pakistan. Women of Tharparkar are hoping for a better future and sources of income as well which will bring change in their lives and they will be able to help bring change in Pakistan.
