Nicki Minaj was scheduled to perform in Saudia Arabia in the city of Jeddah next week but then she canceled her performance for the rights of women and the LGBT community in the conservative realm.
She said that after thorough thinking she decided not to continue her performances in Saudia. She added that she wanted to display her love to the supporters while holding the concert and that there is nothing more she wants than to bring the concert to her fans but she wants to educate herself on the present problems in the country also she made it clear how much she is supportive of the women privileges and the LGBT community.
“After careful reflection, I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest,” Minaj said in a statement sent to AFP by her advertiser.
“While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBT community and freedom of expression.”
The U.S rapper is known for her blasphemy lyrics and vulgar videos were scheduled to perform in Saudia Arabia as a part of a cultural festival. This news heavily triggered social media. The Saudi government had recently slackened its limitations on the performing industry.
Niki Minaj was asked by The Newyork Human Rights Foundation to stop her scheduled performance in Saudia and not to take any money from the state rather use her global stimulus to raise the issue of women rights and ask the Saudi government to release all the activist women they’ve imprisoned.
Moreover, MTV denied all the claims that they will be covering the event also a representative said that MTV was never covering or broadcasting or taking any part in the event.
Other performers who are scheduled to take part n the event are Liam Payne and DJ Steve Aoki
