Dalilah Muhammad breaks Women´s 400m hurdles world record

NEW YORK: On Sunday, Olympic title-holder Dalilah Muhammad breaks the long-term women´s 400m hurdles world record, with the time of 52.20sec with a superb display at the US Track and Field Championships.

At Rio de Janeiro Games, she was the gold medalist with the previous best record of 52.34sec set by Russia´s Yuliya Pechonkina in 2003.

Dalilah said, “she was just shocked that her coach kept telling her (the record) was there. she just had to trust that and go for it.

She also included that, “she wanted it so bad she knew that she had to go out there and prove herself.”

Drake Stadium track was wet with sprinkles of water after showers prior toward the evening, the 29-year-old Dalilah was impressive from the beginning and hit the final straight with an unmistakable lead from rising star Sydney McLaughlin.

Sydney, who had beaten her in the last couple of steps of this present season’s Oslo Diamond League meeting, never looked like shutting the hole as the New Yorker powered home

Sydney came in the second position with 52.88sec and Ashley Spencer came in the third position with 53.11sec.
