Since the rebirth of the Pakistani film industry, many of Pakistani movies had been nominated in Oscar Awards.
Pakistani movies of this era are generous enough to be added in the prestigious award academy. Since this return, Pakistan has presented quite a lot of films to The Oscars in the International Feature Film Award category, previously known as Foreign Language Film category.
The road towards Oscar awards started in 2013 entering Zinda Bhaag and Dukhtar(2014), Mah-e-Mir(2016), Cake(2018). Whoever made a film in Pakistan they are called for Oscar submission.
Every year certain changes are being made in the committee joining new bright faces.
Chaired by SOC, this year’s committee includes Zeba Bakhtiar (director and actress), Zarrar Khuhro (journalist), Zebunnisa Hamid (assistant professor of film studies), Sarmad Khoosat (writer, producer, director and actor), Asim Abbasi (director), Rizwan Beyg (Fashion Designer), Jamil Baig (CEO Nueplex Cinemas), Sanam Saeed (actress, singer and former model] and Hamna Zubair (journalist).
In any case, The Oscars has certain rules that must be met so as to be an applicant, for example, “the movie must be first discharged in the nation submitting it no sooner than October 1, 2018, and no later than September 30, 2019, and be first openly displayed for in any event seven continuous days in a commercial film theatre for the benefit of the maker and exhibitor.”
