Beyonce has been nominated six times for her Netflix movie Homecoming: A film by Beyonce, which helped fan looking at her performance warmly last year when she performed at the Coachella Music Festival. She became the very first black women to take over the headline in that event.
Her live concert film was nominated for outstanding performance as well as good writing and production design. Also, the direction and costumes were extraordinary appealing.
The queen has been nominated for the Emmy’s quite a few times in the past in 2013, 2015 and 2016 respectively for Super Bowl halftime show, on the run tour which was with her husband Jay Z and lemonade her album film. Even though she has been nominated a few times she has yet to win an award.
The two documentaries which were on sexual abuse ‘leaving neverland’ and ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ were also nominated for Emmy’s.
Leaving neverland was a four hour documentary on HBO it featured two men who claimed that Michael Jackson abused them when they were children’s. The documentary was nominated 5 times.
Surviving R.Kelly is a documentary that includes claims of almost fifty people that R&B superstar abused them. This documentary received one nomination. It was nominated just after some days when the superstar was arrested under the charge for recruiting underage girl and also for the attempt to clear out his crimes.
The handmaid’s tale received 11 nominations even though its latest season was not eligible this year because the show missed the deadline. Only shows which were on for 12 months till May were eligible in Emmy’s but still, this show made 16 category submissions.
Other different stars were also nominated for a different range of activities. Natasha Lyonne and Phoebe Waller were nominated for their work on Russian doll and fleabag.
Fiona shaw was also nominated for her guest role in fleabag and Sandra oh for Saturday night live.
