Online networking has turned out to be progressively prevalent all over the world as it has made cooperation between individuals much simpler. Social media is the way of communication through which people interact with each other. It makes interaction a lot easier for people. But the main disadvantage of this medium is that though it helps in interaction it also creates fake news and spread news which is the main fear for the society.
In order to limit fake news, special assistant to PM on information and broadcasting, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that a new committee of the ministry of information has been formed to change the laws related to these social media platforms.
Dr. Firdous was addressing a gathering held with Senate Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage which was led by Senator Faisal Javed. The Information Minister said that the new committee will be formed which reexamine the laws related to the counterfeit news on digital media.
The advisory group is relied upon to send its report to the Senate body before the current month’s over. The adjustments in law proposed by the board of trustees would be passed as legislation from Parliament with the accord. Dr. Firdous further said
“There is no uncertainty that the media is one of the most significant support of the state. The media had changed from print to electronic and now to web-based life, with which phony news is produced and spread involved worry for the general public.”
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said that media is responsible for the fair transmission of information. It is the responsibility of media transfer transparent information. She said that individuals ought to stay away from people personal lives.
Additionally, she communicated worries that with the ascent of web-based life, a vacuum has been made and national intrigue and social qualities were undermined.
