Hajra Khan Pakistani football team captain was born a star she from the start has shown her powerful side. After her strong presence in the Pakistan National Team for 2010 for South Asian games Dhaka she was selected by PFF for FIFA women’s football coaching in Sri Lanka.
She has known for setting history in football for Pakistani women and opens a way for new opportunities when she was selected for three German Football clubs. Just at the age of 25, she has earned a positive career.
She is the first Pakistani women to sign an international contract with Sun hotels & Resorts football club. Hajra khan has been worried about the poor state of sports opportunities for women in Pakistan especially football.
And she spotted the light on how female players are criticized by the higher authorities as she mentioned about the last expressive tournament in 2014 the team played.
Keeping this in mind Hajra took part in the Equal playing field (EPF) initiative in France. No one will believe she is actually holding 3 Guinness records.
The Equal Playing Field (EPL) initiative in France is an event planned by a non-profit that is working towards making football more handy sports for women around the world; especially in Asia.
Cultural and financial barriers often discourage women from following the sport but the initiative is trying to change that and thus it was perfect that Hajra participated in the initiative since these are all the things she stands for as well.
Whereas at the event, Hajra took part in a five-a-side match that went on for a total of 69 hrs. It started on the 28th of June and ended on the 1st of July. Approximately 807 women played in the match which made it the world record for most players in a five-a-side match.
The second record Hajra made by playing in a 1-a-side match which had players from the most nationalities participating and ended up catching the world record. She scored two goals during this match.
The entire event was arranged to sheen bigger spotlight on women in sports which is why the dates overlapped with the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Hajra’s representation of Pakistan was brilliant and even applauded by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s social media.
Hopefully, this will help bring more funding and resources by the government towards women in sports in the country. Hajra made the entire country proud.
